Did you know that a set of new cabinets is gonna cost you at least $10,000 for an average size home? That’s an awful lot of money and that’s gonna take up an awful lot of your budget. Have you thought about refinishing your existing cabinets? This will give your kitchen a whole new look and save you a lot of money, sometimes 50% or more, on the cost of your cabinets.
The 3 Things
There’s basically three different things you can do. Number one, you could repaint your cabinets and it doesn’t matter if they’re lacquered or if they’re painted right now, you can paint over them. Using the right system, you can add color to your cabinets and you can’t take unsightly blemishes and just cover them up with paint. It’s a great nice way to make your kitchen look brand new again.
The second thing you can do is
a tinted lacquered finish. Now, this only works if your cabinets are a little bit lighter in color and they’ll be darker after you’re done. For example, you can take those old honey oak cabinets, you can tint your lacquer and make them look more like a walnut finish. This preserves some of the grain but gives your cabinet colors a new look.
The third thing you can do is
add some glazing. This can be done in a variety of ways. You can pinstripe glaze, just the cracks in your cabinets or you can apply an entire coat of paint, sand back to the old finish and coat over that with a lacquer system.
These are just three things that you can do to make your cabinets look new again and save you a lot of money in the process.
