Hi, this is Mike with Absolute Painting. Want to talk to you today about your deck. Are you thinking about staining your deck? Well, I have three things that you need to do to make sure your deck is properly prepped before you start the staining process. Now, you probably understand that the prep work is the most important part in any stain or paint job. Let’s talk about the three things that you should do to make sure your deck is ready for stain. Number one, pressure wash the surface of your deck prior to beginning the stain job. This will remove dirt, grime, and buildup and make sure that the surface is ready to receive the stain that you put on. Number two, during the washing process a lot of times, fibers in the wood will rough up and leave you with a surface that doesn’t feel smooth. You can take a piece of sandpaper or a sanding block or a sanding sponge and go ahead and sand those areas and clean them off before you stain.
Check The Wood Deck
Now, the third thing you should do is check the deck wood itself. Is it rotted? Are there boards that need to be replaced? Check your balusters. Are your balusters in good shape? Are there any loose nails or loose screws? How do your steps feel? Do they need to be repaired? And if any of those things need to be done, make sure that they’re repaired prior to staining. If you do those three things and make sure that you do them well, then when you stain your deck, it’ll last for a really long time and look really, really nice. Now, if you want to have your deck stained, but you don’t want to do it yourself, or you don’t have the time, give Absolute Painting a call. We’ll come out and give you an on the spot estimate right then and there. This is Mike with Absolute Painting. Till next time, have a great day.
